Did you know?

  • Five Villages: Cinque Terre translates to “Five Lands” and consists of five picturesque villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore, each with its own unique charm.
  • Car-Free Zone: To preserve the area’s natural beauty and reduce traffic, most of Cinque Terre is car-free. Visitors typically explore the villages by train, boat, or on foot.
  • Napoleon’s Exile: Elba is most famous for being the site of Napoleon Bonaparte’s first exile in 1814. He spent about 10 months on the island before escaping and returning to France.
  • Stunning Beaches: Elba boasts over 100 beaches, ranging from sandy shores like Marina di Campo to rocky coves like Sansone, making it a popular destination for sunbathing and water sports.

  • Galileo Galilei’s Connection: Pisa is the birthplace of renowned physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei, who is said to have conducted experiments on gravity from the Leaning Tower.
  • City of Churches: Known as the “City of 100 Churches,” Lucca boasts numerous historic churches, including the stunning San Michele in Foro and the Lucca Cathedral (San Martino).
  • Puccini’s Birthplace: The famous opera composer Giacomo Puccini was born in Lucca in 1858. His birthplace is now a museum dedicated to his life and works.

Itinerary
Day 1

Pisa, Tuscany, Italy

Fly to Pisa

You will fly to Pisa Airport and on arrival, you will be met by your Tour Manager who will show you to your coach. You will be transferred to your hotel, the Hotel Atlantico set on Tuscany’s golden coast.

Day 2

Pisa & Lucca

Start your day in the charming walled city of Lucca. Known for its cobbled streets, historic palaces, and beautiful churches, Lucca feels like an open-air museum. Enjoy a guided walk through the city’s quaint streets, filled with local boutiques, cafes, and artisan shops, and explore the impressive mediaeval walls. These walls, stretching over four kilometres, offer stunning views from a tree-lined promenade.
Afterwards, head to Pisa to explore its world-famous sights. Visit the iconic Leaning Tower and stroll through Miracle Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the beautiful Pisa Cathedral and Baptistery stand. Beyond these famous monuments, Pisa’s Renaissance-style Piazza dei Cavalieri, the “Borgo Stretto,” and the bustling, student-filled squares give this city a vibrant and timeless atmosphere.

Day 3

Cinque Terre

Prepare for an unforgettable day as you set off to explore the breathtaking Cinque Terre, picturesque villages along the Ligurian coast. These villages are renowned for their pastel-coloured buildings that cling to cliffs overlooking the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea, forming one of Italy’s most beautiful coastlines.
Your journey begins in La Spezia, where you’ll take a scenic boat ride to Portovenere, a charming village famous for its brightly painted buildings, mediaeval streets, and a picturesque harbour. Next, continue by boat to Vernazza, one of the most authentic fishing villages on the Italian Riviera, with its dramatic cliffs, cosy harbour, and vibrant atmosphere. Wander the narrow lanes, browse local shops, and experience the rustic charm that has made Vernazza a UNESCO World Heritage site.
From Vernazza, continue to Monterosso, the largest of the five villages. Monterosso boasts a beautiful old town, mediaeval buildings, and an inviting, old-world charm. Take a leisurely stroll along its promenade, visit quaint shops, and soak up the beauty of this incredible coastline. At the end of the day, board the train back to La Spezia, where your coach will bring you back to your hotel, filled with unforgettable memories of the Cinque Terre.

Day 4

Day at Leisure

Today is yours to spend as you wish on Tuscany’s golden coast, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind after a few days of adventure. Lounge on the beach, where elegant beach clubs offer well-kept sunbeds and parasols, perfect for a leisurely day under the warm Tuscan sun. Explore the local area’s seaside charm, enjoy fresh coastal cuisine, or simply take in the scenery and ambiance of the Italian coast. This is the ideal day to recharge, savouring Tuscany’s coastal beauty.

Day 5

Elba Island

Today, venture to the stunning Elba Island, a place of rich history, lush landscapes, and Mediterranean charm. After a scenic ferry ride, arrive on this beautiful island where you’ll discover its historic and natural treasures. Start with a visit to Napoleon’s residence, the Villa San Martino, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the island’s past and the former emperor’s life.
You’ll continue exploring the island’s scenic beauty as you travel to Porto Azzurro, a charming town with a lively historic centre, picturesque harbours, and cosy cafes. After a day immersed in the captivating landscapes and history of Elba, board the ferry back to the mainland, where your coach will return you to your hotel.

Day 6

Day At Leisure

Enjoy another day at your own pace, allowing you the freedom to relax, explore the area further, or simply soak up more of Tuscany’s beauty. This is your chance to take things slowly, indulge in local delicacies, or perhaps browse local markets and artisan shops. Spend the day exactly as you like, making the most of Tuscany’s leisurely charm.

Day 7

Siena & Chianti with Wine Tasting

Today, explore the timeless beauty of Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its mediaeval brick buildings, charming streets, and beautiful squares. With your local guide, discover Siena’s history and admire its architectural splendour as you explore monuments, churches, and palaces that make this city one of Italy’s most beloved destinations.
After your time in Siena, travel to the famous Chianti wine region. Visit a local vineyard where you’ll learn about the winemaking process from the experts, tour the vineyards, and enjoy a tasting of some of Italy’s most celebrated wines, accompanied by delicious local snacks. This day captures the essence of Tuscany’s history, culture, and culinary delights.

Day 8

Return home

After breakfast, your coach will take you to Pisa Airport for your return flight to Dublin, concluding your Tuscan adventure.
