This tour concludes with a fairy-tale visit to the island castle of Trakai.

Your Escorted Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Riga, Latvia
Your Baltic adventure begins when you depart from Dublin on your direct flight to Riga, the vibrant capital of Latvia. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your Sunway Tour Leader and transferred by coach to your centrally located hotel, your base for the next three nights.
Day 2: Gauja National Park & Turaida Castle
After breakfast, we depart for a full-day guided excursion to Gauja National Park, Latvia’s oldest and largest national park. We’ll make a brief stop at the ruins of Sigulda Castle before enjoying an included 2-course lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we visit the impressive 13th-century red-brick fortress of Turaida Castle. The day finishes with a memorable and scenic one-way cable car ride from Sigulda to Krimulda, offering breathtaking views over the river valley. Tonight, a 3-course dinner at a local restaurant is also included.
Day 3: Walking Tour of Riga’s Old Town
This morning you’ll discover Riga on a guided walking tour (approx. 1.5 hours) through the heart of its UNESCO-listed Old Town. As you stroll the cobblestone streets, your guide will bring the city’s history to life, pointing out highlights like the ornate House of the Blackheads and the towering Riga’s Cathedral. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Riga at your own pace.
Day 4: Rundale Palace & The Hill of Crosses
Today we travel south, starting with a guided tour of one of Latvia’s greatest landmarks—Rundale Palace. This stunning example of Baroque and Rococo architecture is a true masterpiece. Following our visit, we will enjoy an included 2-course lunch at a restaurant in Rundale. In the afternoon, we cross the border into Lithuania and stop at the Hill of Crosses, a powerful and unforgettable pilgrimage site. From here, we continue to Kaunas, Lithuania’s second city, where we check into our hotel for one night.
Day 5: Kaunas & Vilnius City Tours
After breakfast, we enjoy a leisurely walking tour of Kaunas, taking in the charm of its Old Town Hall and Central Station. We then travel to Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius. Upon arrival, we embark on a guided walking tour to discover its historic landmarks, with photo stops at St. Peter and Paul Church, the Arkikatedra Bazilika, Vilnius Old University, the Gates of Dawn, and Gediminas Tower. You will then check into your hotel for the final two nights of the tour.
Day 6: Trakai Castle & Lake Galve Boat Ride
Today we take an excursion to the beautiful town of Trakai, renowned for its stunning island castle. An English-speaking guide will lead you through the 14th-century fortress, sharing its rich history. Following the tour, you will enjoy an included 2-course lunch at a local restaurant. To complete this perfect day, you will take a leisurely boat ride on Lake Galve, offering wonderful views of the castle from the water before returning to Vilnius.
Day 7: Transfer & Flight Home
After a final breakfast, you will have some free time to enjoy Vilnius for any last-minute exploration or souvenir shopping. Later, you will be transferred by coach from Vilnius to Riga Airport for your comfortable, direct return flight to Dublin.

Riga, Latvia
Travel to Riga
Depart from Dublin Airport on our direct flight to Riga, the charming capital of Latvia. Upon arrival, we will be warmly welcomed by our Sunway Tour Leader and transferred by coach to our centrally located hotel, where we will stay for the next three nights.
Gauja National Park & Turaida Castle
After breakfast, we’ll depart by coach for a fully guided day excursion to Gauja National Park, Latvia’s largest and oldest national park.
On the way, we’ll make a brief stop at the ruins of Sigulda Castle, offering a wonderful photo opportunity and a chance to take in the views of the picturesque Gauja River Valley. Often referred to as the “Switzerland of Latvia,” this region is famed for its rolling hills, sandstone cliffs, dense forests, and medieval heritage.
Lunch will be included at a local restaurant, where we’ll enjoy a 2-course meal.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the impressive Turaida Castle, a red-brick fortress dating back to the 13th century. Here we will explore the castle grounds and interior.
We’ll finish the day with a scenic one-way cable car ride over Gauja National Park, traveling from Sigulda to Krimulda. Soaring above the treetops, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the forested landscape and river below-a memorable highlight of the day. Don’t worry though if you don’t want to take the cable car just let us know in advance as you can take the coach instead.
Return to Riga in the early evening.
Dinner tonight will be in a local restaurant (3 course meal included)
Walking Tour of Riga
After breakfast, time to discover Riga with a guided walking tour (approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes), exploring the highlights of the city’s charming Old Town. As we stroll through cobblestone streets and historic squares, your guide will bring to life Riga’s rich history, architectural treasures, and cultural heritage. Highlights – the House of the Blackheads & Riga’s Cathedral.
Following the tour, you’ll have the rest of the day free to explore Riga at your own pace. Whether you wish to visit museums, shop for local crafts, relax in a café, or take in more of the city’s stunning Art Nouveau architecture, the day is yours to enjoy.

Rundale Palace & Hill of Crosses
Today, we’ll travel south from Riga to enjoy a guided tour of one of Latvia’s most magnificent landmarks – Rundale Palace. Designed by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, who also designed the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, Rundale is a stunning example of Baroque and Rococo architecture.
After our palace visit, we will enjoy a 2-course lunch at a local restaurant in Rundale.
In the afternoon, we cross into Lithuania and stop at one of the country’s most powerful and symbolic sites – the Hill of Crosses. This pilgrimage site is home to thousands of crosses left by visitors over the years, a deeply moving and visually striking symbol of faith, hope, and resilience.
Later in the afternoon, we continue to Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel, where we will stay for one night.
Vilnius, Lithuania
Kaunas & Vilnius City Tour
Join us for a leisurely walking tour through the heart of Kaunas, Lithuania’s vibrant second city, rich in history and architectural charm. This short but scenic route covers some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Old Town Hall & Central Station with ample time for photos and a taste of the city’s unique atmosphere.
We will stop for lunch at a local restaurant, where you’ll enjoy a 2-course meal.
We will travel to our Hotel in Vilnius where we will stay for the next two nights.
We will then join a guided walking tour of Vilnius, exploring its charming streets and historic landmarks. The tour includes photo stops at St. Peter and Paul Church, Arkikatedra Bazilika, Vilnius Old University, the Gates of Dawn, and Gediminas Tower. Discover the rich history and stunning architecture of Lithuania’s capital as you stroll through its captivating Old Town.
Day at leisure
Today we have a free day to explore the city. Why not walk along the Nevis River or shop in the cobbled streets of the Old Town.
Vilnius, Lithuania
Trakai Castle & Boat ride on Lake Galve
Today, we depart Vilnius for a visit to the beautiful town of Trakai, renowned for its picturesque setting and historical significance. Upon arrival, we will explore the stunning Trakai Castle, located on an island in Lake Galve, accompanied by an English-speaking guide who will share the rich history of this 14th-century fortress and its role in Lithuania’s past.
Following the tour, we will enjoy a 2-course lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, relax and take in the scenic beauty of the area with a leisurely holiday boat ride on Lake Galve, offering wonderful views of the castle and its surroundings from the water.
Afterwards, you’ll have some free time to enjoy a light meal or explore Trakai a little further before we transfer to Vilnius Airport for our return flight to Dublin, marking the end of a memorable journey through the Baltics.
