Malta Uncovered

Malta is an island where the layers of history are visible at every turn. From the prehistoric temples that pre-date the Egyptian pyramids to the honey-coloured stone walls built by the Knights of St John, this 7-night Escorted Tour offers a complete look at a truly unique Mediterranean destination. This trip, titled Malta Uncovered, is designed for those who appreciate a balance of organised sightseeing and well-earned relaxation. The island has a long and turbulent past, with a language and culture bearing the influence of Latin, Arabic, and Semitic dialects, making it a fascinating place to explore for any curious traveller.
The tour begins with a stay at the 4-star Maritim Antonine Hotel & Spa, located in the charming town of Mellieha. From this comfortable base, you will explore the capital city of Valletta, a baroque masterpiece and one of the world’s most impressive fortified cities. You will visit St John’s Co-Cathedral, home to Caravaggio’s famous artwork, and experience the Malta Experience audio-visual show which brings the island’s story to life. The city’s typical Mediterranean atmosphere is best experienced in its quiet squares, where locals gather for daily chatter amongst houses adorned with traditional wrought iron balconies.
Our itinerary takes you beyond the usual tourist spots to discover the quieter side of the Maltese archipelago. You will travel to Gozo, Malta’s sister island, where life moves at a significantly slower pace. Here, you will visit the Ggantija Temples and the Citadel in Victoria. Back on the main island, the ‘Silent City’ of Mdina awaits, with its narrow medieval streets and panoramic views from the high bastions. This Escorted Tour ensures you see the most significant landmarks without feeling rushed, allowing you to enjoy the warm hospitality that Malta is known for.
For value-conscious travellers, this package includes half-board accommodation, direct flights, and the expertise of a local guide. You will also visit the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk, famous for its colourful Luzzu boats, and the ancient burial sites at Rabat. A particular highlight is a visit to a local vineyard for a wine tasting, introducing you to the local flavours that have been cultivated here since Phoenician times. Whether you are interested in the Neolithic history of Hagar Qim or simply want to enjoy the view of the Blue Grotto’s phosphorescent waters, this tour provides a factual and comprehensive introduction to the island.
