Baltic Metropoles: Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn & Helsinki

Join Travel Escapes for a comprehensive Baltic Metropoles tour, an 11-night escorted tour specifically organised for Irish holidaymakers who wish to explore the rich history and culture of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland. This well-planned holiday takes the stress out of travel by including direct flights from Dublin, centrally located 4-star hotel accommodation, and the expertise of a professional English-speaking tour escort throughout your journey.
Your adventure begins in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, where you will have two independent days to settle in at your own pace before meeting your fellow travellers. Vilnius is a city of remarkable architectural variety, known for its extensive medieval Old Town and dozens of historic churches. During your guided time here, you will visit the Vilnius Cathedral, the Gates of Dawn, and the Peter and Paul Church. For those interested in deeper local history, an optional excursion to Trakai Castle, situated on a peaceful island in Lake Galve, offers a look at the medieval heart of the country.
From Lithuania, the group travels north towards Riga, the largest city in the Baltic states. Along the way, we stop at the moving Hill of Crosses and the grand Rundale Palace, a former summer residence that showcases the region’s royal history through its baroque architecture. In Riga, your guided walking tour will cover everything from the famous Art Nouveau district to the narrow medieval streets of the Old Town, including the Dome Cathedral and the Freedom Monument. Irish guests often enjoy the optional organ concert at the cathedral or a trip to the nearby seaside resort of Jurmala.
The Baltic Metropoles tour then continues to Tallinn, Estonia’s coastal capital. After a brief stop in the summer resort of Parnu, you will arrive in a city that feels like a step back in time. Tallinn’s Old Town is exceptionally well-preserved, featuring its original medieval walls, Toompea Castle, and a bustling town square. Before we leave Estonia, there is an opportunity to visit the Lahemaa National Park, providing a quiet look at the country’s natural landscapes and historic manor houses.
The final leg of the journey involves a refreshing ferry crossing through the Finnish archipelago to Helsinki. Finland’s capital offers a unique blend of western and eastern cultures, which we explore through visits to the Senate Square, the Sibelius Monument, and the impressive Church-in-the-Rock. This escorted tour ensures you see the best of each destination without the hassle of planning your own transport or navigation. With breakfast included every morning and a range of carefully selected optional excursions available, this holiday offers excellent value for holidaymakers from Ireland looking for a structured way to see the highlights of the Baltic region.
