Denmark, Sweden-Colourful historic buildings and moored boats in Nyhavn on a Stockholm Copenhagen tour.

This seven-day Escorted Tour is a brilliant choice for Irish holidaymakers wishing to discover the sophisticated charms of Sweden and Denmark. Both nations were once formidable European powers, and their capital cities still bear the grand architectural hallmarks of their rich histories, from the age of the Vikings to the era of the Hanseatic League. By combining Stockholm and Copenhagen into one organised itinerary, you get to experience the fascinating contrast between these two Scandinavian gems, all while staying in quality four-star accommodation.

Your Stockholm Copenhagen tour begins in the Swedish capital, a city built across a stunning archipelago of fourteen islands. You will have plenty of time to explore the medieval heart of the city, Gamla Stan, where 13th-century churches and the imposing Royal Palace dominate the skyline. One of the standout experiences is a visit to the Vasa Museum, which houses a 64-gun warship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. For Irish guests, the value is enhanced by the inclusion of a Stockholm Travelcard, which gives you the freedom to explore the city’s parks, museums, and waterfronts using the efficient public transport system.

The transition between countries is a highlight in itself, as you board a high-speed train for a scenic journey through the Swedish countryside before crossing the iconic Öresund Bridge into Denmark. Once in Copenhagen, you will find a city that is scrupulously clean and scrupulously relaxed. Your guided tour will introduce you to the sites associated with Hans Christian Andersen, the grand palaces of the Danish monarchy, and the colourful buildings of the Nyhavn waterfront.

Beyond the city limits, this tour also takes you deep into the Danish past. You will visit Roskilde to see historic Viking ships that were pulled from the seabed, and wander through the halls of Frederiksborg Palace, often called the ‘Nordic Versailles’ due to its spectacular Renaissance architecture and manicured gardens. With return flights from Dublin, transfers, and the constant support of a professional tour manager, this is a straightforward and excellent value way to experience the very best of Scandinavia. Whether you are interested in the seafaring heritage of the Vikings or the elegant modern design for which these countries are now famous, this tour offers a comprehensive and factual look at two of the world’s most liveable cities.
