Highlights of Jordan: Petra, Wadi Rum & Istanbul

This 14-night escorted tour is an excellent choice for Irish holidaymakers looking to explore two of the Middle East’s most historically significant destinations in one incredible journey. We have carefully organised this trip to balance the breathtaking archaeological wonders of Jordan with the vibrant, cosmopolitan energy of Istanbul. Throughout the holiday, you will be accompanied by expert local guides who bring the history of these ancient lands to life, ensuring you see the very best of both countries without the stress of independent travel.
Our Jordan Istanbul tour begins in Amman, a city of contrasts where modern life meets ancient ruins. From the Roman theatre to the Citadel, you will see how various civilisations have left their mark on the landscape. We then travel to the remarkably well-preserved city of Jerash, often called the Pompeii of the East, before heading south towards the most famous landmark in the region: the ‘Red City’ of Petra. Entering through the narrow Siq to see the Treasury for the first time is a moment our guests never forget. We have included a full day here to ensure you have ample time to explore the temples and amphitheatres carved directly into the pink sandstone cliffs.
The adventure continues into the majestic Wadi Rum desert, where we take a jeep tour through the dunes made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. We also spend time in Aqaba on the Red Sea and at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where you can experience the unique sensation of floating in mineral-rich waters. Religious history is a major focus of our time in Jordan, with visits to the baptism site at Bethany, Mount Nebo, and the famous mosaic map in Madaba.
To conclude our trip, we fly to Turkey for a three-night stay in Istanbul. This city serves as the ultimate bridge between Europe and Asia, and our guided tour will introduce you to its most iconic sights, including the Blue Mosque and the historic districts of Fener and Balat. You will also have plenty of free time to enjoy the local cuisine, explore the Basilica Cistern, or test your haggling skills in the world-famous Grand Bazaar. This is a busy, Level 4 activity holiday, meaning it is perfect for travellers who enjoy staying active and seeing as much as possible. With flights, transfers, and high-quality accommodation included, this tour offers straightforward value and a wealth of unforgettable experiences.
