Italy’s Adriatic Riviera: Bologna, Ravenna & San Marino

Irish holidaymakers looking for a blend of sunshine, culture, and incredible cuisine will find everything they need on this Adriatic Riviera tour. This seven-night escorted tour is based in the pleasant seaside town of Gabicce Mare, a location that offers the best of both worlds: the relaxing atmosphere of a coastal resort and easy access to some of Italy’s most important historical cities. Gabicce Mare sits on the border of the Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions, providing a unique vantage point to explore the authentic heart of Italy.
One of the main highlights of this holiday is a full-day excursion to Bologna. Often called the food capital of Italy, Bologna is a dream for anyone who appreciates genuine flavours and historic charm. You will enjoy a guided walking tour through the traditional food markets where you can see the fresh produce, cheeses, and cured meats that make this region famous across the globe. After exploring the markets, your guide will take you through the historic centre to see the magnificent Piazza Maggiore, the Fountain of Neptune, and the grand Basilica of San Petronio.
The tour also takes you to Ravenna, a city that served as the last capital of the Western Roman Empire. Here, you will be treated to a guided tour of the world-renowned Byzantine mosaics, which have been granted UNESCO World Heritage status for their incredible preservation and artistry. To make the day even more enjoyable for our Irish guests, we have included a gelato tasting, allowing you to enjoy a true Italian staple while taking in the local sights and sounds.
Another fascinating day is spent in the Republic of San Marino. As the oldest republic in the world, it is a unique place to visit. You will explore the narrow, winding streets of the hilltop town before taking a short cable car ride to the summit of Mount Titano. The views from the top across the rolling Italian hills are truly breathtaking and provide a wonderful photo opportunity.
Of course, no Italian holiday is complete without some time to simply relax and enjoy the coastal life. Gabicce Mare is perfectly situated for this, with its sandy beaches and welcoming cafes. You can choose to spend your leisure days soaking up the sun, taking a walk up to Gabicce Monte for panoramic views, or perhaps exploring the nearby town of Pesaro. This Adriatic Riviera tour is designed for those who want an organised, stress-free experience with plenty of included excursions, while still having the freedom to enjoy the Italian coast at their own pace.
