Staying in the charming lakeside towns of Menaggio or Tremezzo, you will be ideally placed to enjoy the region’s unique atmosphere, where the Italian lifestyle meets Alpine grandeur.

One of the primary highlights of this holiday is a half-day scenic boat cruise. Gliding across the water is the best way to see the grand villas and colourful gardens that have made this lake a favourite for centuries. We include a stop in Bellagio, known as the ‘Pearl of the Lake’, where you can wander through narrow stone alleys and browse local silk shops. The pace is relaxed, ensuring you have time to soak in the views that have attracted visitors from around the world.

Our itinerary also takes us across the border into the Swiss Alps for a truly memorable experience on the Bernina Express. This panoramic train journey is famous for its steep climbs and incredible mountain vistas. You will visit the high-altitude town of St. Moritz and the quaint village of Tirano, witnessing the dramatic change in landscape from Mediterranean-style lake shores to snow-capped peaks. We also visit Milan, Italy’s fashion hub, for a full-day guided tour. You will see the magnificent Duomo di Milano, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, and the world’s oldest shopping mall, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. After our guided walk, there is plenty of time to enjoy a local lunch or explore the city’s famous shopping streets independently. Throughout the week, we have included several free days so you can rest by the hotel pool or use the local ferry services to explore nearby villages like Varenna.
