Undiscovered Spain: Extremadura & Toledo

This wonderful 7-night Escorted Tour invites you to experience a side of the Iberian Peninsula that many travellers never see. Our Undiscovered Spain Extremadura holiday is designed for those who appreciate history, culture, and authentic local experiences away from the crowded coastal resorts. We begin our journey in the magnificent city of Toledo, a place where Christian, Moorish, and Jewish histories have combined to create one of the most visually stunning cities in Europe. After a night here, we venture into the heart of the Extremadura region, a place of rugged beauty and incredible architectural heritage.
Based in the historic city of Cáceres, our guests will stay in a comfortable 4-star hotel perfectly positioned for exploring the city’s UNESCO-listed old town. This is a region where the past feels very much alive. We have organised a series of guided excursions that showcase the very best of the area, including the incredible Roman Theatre of Mérida and the Royal Monastery of Saint Mary of Guadalupe. These sites are not just landmarks; they are pillars of Spanish history that offer deep insight into the different civilisations that have shaped the country.
Food and drink are central to the culture here, and we have included a special wine tasting in the medieval town of Trujillo. This allows you to sample the local produce while surrounded by the historic architecture that Trujillo is famous for. We also visit Badajoz, a city with a distinct Moorish character and a formidable Alcazaba fortress that stands as a testament to its strategic importance over the centuries.
Throughout the trip, you will be accompanied by a professional guide who will provide factual, interesting commentary on everything you see. This holiday offers excellent value, including return flights, transfers, half-board accommodation, and all major excursions. If you are looking for a straightforward, well-organised way to see the real Spain, this Undiscovered Spain Extremadura tour is an ideal choice. We handle all the logistics, leaving you free to enjoy the stunning scenery and historical wonders of this fascinating region.
