1Arrival for your Sicily tour+
Upon landing in Palermo, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you have the remainder of the day to get your bearings in this historic city. Your guide will be on hand with maps and local recommendations to help you start your exploration.
2Discovering the Streets of Palermo+
Enjoy a full day exploring this busy and vibrant city. Palermo is home to many interesting squares, open-air marketplaces, and historic palazzos featuring styles ranging from Moorish to Baroque. A guided sightseeing tour is included today, which covers the city's culture and a visit to the impressive Baroque St. Catherine Church.
3Coastal Trapani and Hilltop Erice+
Today features two Sicilian highlights. First, visit the port city of Trapani with a local guide to see its Baroque centre. Later, take a cable car to the medieval town of Erice, situated 2,500 feet above sea level. This hilltop location offers incredible views of the Egadi Islands and the Mediterranean. You will stay overnight in Marsala.
4Ancient Selinunte and Agrigento+
Spend the morning in Marsala, perhaps joining an optional excursion to see the ancient salt pans or sample local wine. We then travel to Selinunte, one of the most significant archaeological sites on the island, to see the ruins of the acropolis and its fortifications before continuing to Agrigento.
5The Valley of the Temples and Roman Mosaics+
Visit the spectacular Valley of the Temples near Agrigento, including the Temple of Concord and the Temple of Juno. Later, at the Roman Villa of Casale in Piazza Armerina, you can view the world-famous mosaics, including the 'Bikini Girls'. We continue to the Taormina area where an optional traditional Sicilian dinner is available.
6Mount Etna and Taormina+
We head for the heights of Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano. There is an option for a jeep or cable car ride to see the higher craters, weather permitting. Afterwards, descend to Taormina to enjoy the sea views from Piazza Nove Aprile or take a walk through the shops on Corso Umberto.
7Cefalù and Return to Palermo+
Our journey takes us to the seaside town of Cefalù, known for its narrow medieval streets and its 12th-century Norman cathedral featuring intricate Byzantine mosaics. We then return to Palermo for a final evening, providing a chance for some last-minute shopping or a final stroll through the city.
