From the river, the city unfolds with elegant architecture, tree-lined promenades, and easy access to historic treasures such as Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the former Habsburg residences. Classical music heritage, traditional coffeehouses, and refined Old World charm make Vienna a sophisticated and memorable stop for river cruise travellers.

Day 3

Vác is a charming Danube town that offers river cruise guests a quieter, more intimate glimpse of Hungary beyond Budapest. Known for its colorful baroque main square and impressive cathedral, the town is easy to explore on foot directly from the riverbank. Surrounded by gentle hills at the entrance to the Danube Bend, Vác provides a relaxed atmosphere, local cafés, and scenic views that make it a pleasant and authentic cruise stop.

Day 3

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest is one of the most spectacular cities to experience on a river cruise, dramatically set along both sides of the Danube. Cruising past the illuminated Parliament building, Buda Castle, and historic bridges is a highlight both by day and at night. On shore, guests can explore grand boulevards, thermal baths, lively markets, and cafés, enjoying the city’s rich history and vibrant energy that seamlessly blend Old World elegance with modern life.

Day 4

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest, Hungary’s capital, is bisected by the River Danube. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest. A funicular runs up Castle Hill to Buda’s Old Town, where the Budapest History Museum traces city life from Roman times onward. Trinity Square is home to 13th-century Matthias Church and the turrets of the Fishermen’s Bastion, which offer sweeping views.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava is a welcoming and easily walkable river cruise stop, where the Danube flows right through the heart of the city. Its compact Old Town features medieval streets, colorful buildings, and the hilltop Bratislava Castle with sweeping river views. With a relaxed atmosphere, outdoor cafés, and a mix of history and modern charm, Bratislava offers a pleasant and approachable experience for river cruise travellers.

Day 6

Dürnstein, Austria

Dürnstein is a picturesque gem in Austria’s Wachau Valley, perfect for river cruise travelers seeking storybook scenery. Nestled along the Danube, the town is famous for its pastel-colored buildings, cobblestone streets, and the striking ruins of Dürnstein Castle perched above, where legend says King Richard the Lionheart was once held captive. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, it offers charming wine taverns and scenic river views, making it an unforgettable stop for those exploring the heart of Austria.

Day 6

Melk, Austria
