Itinerary
1Arrival in Bucharest and Embarkation+
Your journey begins with a flight from Dublin to Bucharest, the hip capital of Romania. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the port in Giurgiu to board your river ship. Settle into your cabin and enjoy your first dinner on board as the ship begins its voyage along the Danube.
2Medieval History in Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi+
Today we explore the medieval history of Bulgaria. Join a local expert for a guided tour of Veliko Tarnovo, the former capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire, including a visit to the Tsarevets Fortress. Afterwards, visit the hilltop village of Arbanasi for a traditional local lunch before returning to the ship in Ruse.
3Vidin and the Belogradchik Fortress+
Explore the 10th-century Baba Vida Fortress in Vidin, a remarkably well-preserved medieval castle. Later, we travel to Belogradchik to see its ancient fortress and the striking natural rock formations that have made this area famous.
4Scenic Cruising through the Balkans+
Spend a relaxing day on board as we enjoy the Legends of the Balkans from the comfort of the Sun Deck. Take in the postcard-perfect views of the riverbanks and enjoy the ship's facilities as we sail towards Serbia.
5Visit Novi Sad, Serbia's second-largest city and its cultural heart. Following a guided tour of the charming city streets, you will have free time to explore. You may choose to visit the Petrovaradin Fortress to see its intriguing underground catacombs.+
6Puszta Horse Show and Kalocsa Traditions+
Dock in the historic Hungarian town of Kalocsa before heading to the Puszta plains. Here, you will experience a traditional horse show featuring the incredible equestrian skills of the Magyar cowboys. You can also visit the stables or take an optional carriage ride.
7Exploring the Grandeur of Budapest+
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Budapest. You might choose to join an optional culinary tour of the Great Market Hall or visit the fascinating Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum. This evening, celebrate your journey with the Captain’s Farewell Dinner.
8Disembarkation and Return to Dublin+
After breakfast, disembark your ship in Budapest and transfer to the airport for your return flight to Dublin, bringing your Balkan adventure to a close.
