Arctic Norway & Northern Lights Ocean Cruise

Join us for a truly remarkable 16-night Arctic Norway ocean cruise that sets sail directly from Belfast. This voyage, aboard the comfortable and well-appointed ship Ambition, is designed for those who appreciate the slower pace of sea travel and the breathtaking natural beauty of the far north. As we depart the familiar shores of Ireland, you will begin a journey that takes you deep into the heart of Norway’s Arctic region, a place of shifting lights, vast horizons, and rugged landscapes that remain largely untouched by time.
Your journey starts with a convenient call in Liverpool before we head north toward the stunning town of Ålesund. Known for its unique Art Nouveau architecture and beautiful island setting, it provides the perfect introduction to the Norwegian coast. From there, we continue to the historic city of Trondheim, where you can explore centuries of heritage and culture. As the ship moves further north, the air becomes crisper and the skies wider, signalling our arrival in the Arctic Circle. On board, the atmosphere is warm and friendly. You will find a range of leisure facilities, including swimming pools and wellness areas, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The ship is large enough to offer plenty of variety in its dining and entertainment but small enough to maintain a sociable feel among fellow travellers.
One of the major draws of this Arctic Norway ocean cruise is the time spent in Tromsø and Alta. Often referred to as the gateway to the Arctic, Tromsø is a vibrant city set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Here, the northern light shapes the very atmosphere of the town. Further north in Alta, you will experience a quieter, more elemental side of Norway. This region is famed for its stillness and vast open spaces, offering a rare chance to truly disconnect and appreciate the raw power of nature.
As we begin our journey back south, we visit the historic port of Narvik and the town of Bodø. Narvik offers a deep dive into wartime history and dramatic coastal scenery, while Bodø, sitting just above the Arctic Circle, is famous for the Saltstraumen maelstrom and its expansive sea views. The grand finale of your voyage is a cruise through the world-famous Geirangerfjord. With its towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls like the Seven Sisters, it is a sight that stays with you long after you return to Belfast. This is an organised, stress-free way to explore the wonders of the Arctic, experienced at a thoughtful, unhurried pace.
