Itinerary
Day 1-2

Lisbon, Portugal

On arrival in Lisbon, you will be transferred to the hotel for a one night stay. In the morning, you will be transferred to the port to board MSC Divina. The ship departs into the Atlantic in the evening, setting sail for adventure!

Day 3

At Sea

Get to know the fabulous facilities onboard the MSC Divina.

Day 4

Funchal, Madeira, Portugal

As you arrive in Funchal on a cruise, your ship will cast anchor in a bay protected by mountains rising straight up behind the port. The name, Funchal, derives from that of the fennel plant, the funcho still used today in the traditional sweets known as rebuçados de funcho, that one can find anywhere on the island of Madeira.

You can visit the town centre, to visit historic churches, from the A Sé Cathedral, with its inlaid ceiling, to the majestic Church of the Incarnation, to the church of Carmo without a vault.

Another option will take you up to the village of Monte, from where one can admire a spectacular view of the Funchal bay. You can visit its 18th century church and the tomb of the last Austrian emperor, Charles I, and stroll around the magnificent botanic gardens. But if you like heights, there’s nothing more impressive than the Cabo Girão and its 589 metre tall cliffs, amongst the highest in the world, at the foot of which lie the cultivated lands known as Fajãs do Cabo Girão.

If you’re looking for an equipped beach during your cruise, another excursion will take you to Machico. Founded in the 15th century, it hosts the oldest religious building on the island, the Capela dos Milagres, and the fortresses of São João Baptista and Nossa Senhora do Amparo built in the beginning of the 16th century.

The more lively tourist attraction is instead in Calheta, on the south-west coast. Splendid yachts cruising across the Atlantic are moored in the port and if you want to go for a swim there are two beautiful beaches of golden sand; in spite of the modern structures Calheta dates back to the mid-15th century. This is where they make the “Aguardente”, the best white rhum, and fundamental ingredient of Madeira’s typical drink, the “Poncha” .

Day 5-9

At Sea

Cruise across the mighty Atlantic Ocean.

Day 10

St. John’s, Antigua

Antigua’s capital, with some 45,000 inhabitants (approximately half the island’s population), lies at sea level at the inland end of a sheltered northwestern bay. Although it has seen better days, a couple of notable historic sights and some good waterfront shopping areas make it worth a visit. At the far south end of town, where Market Street forks into Valley and All Saints roads, haggling goes on every Friday and Saturday, when locals jam the Public Market to buy and sell fruits, vegetables, fish, and spices. Ask before you aim a camera; your subject may expect a tip. This is old-time Caribbean shopping, a jambalaya of sights, sounds, and smells.

Day 11

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Sint Maarten, the Dutch side of the island, is completely different from the French side. With its tourist-friendly nightlife, a slew of shopping centres including duty-free shops in capital Philipsburg, tacky casinos, numerous condo units and sprawling resorts, it can sometimes feel overdeveloped and artificial, but you’ll also find a few peaceful, picturesque beaches around Simpson Bay and Little Bay.

Day 12

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Beyond its timeworn 15ft-thick walls, San Juan is far more than a collection of well-polished colonial-era artefacts – it’s also a mosaic of ever-evolving neighbourhoods such as Santurce, which has a raw vitality fueled by street art, superb restaurants and a bar scene that takes over the streets at night.

And then there are the beaches. Silky ribbons of sand line San Juan’s northern edge from swanky Condado to resort-filled Isla Verde. You can land at the airport and be splashing in the azure waters an hour later.

Day 13-14

At Sea

Day 15

Miami, Florida

Your cruise comes to an end as you sail into Miami port. Disembarkation will begin after breakfast. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Ireland.
