About Where You’ll Stay
When you’re trekking, you’ll stay in places called tea houses. Most tea houses offer private rooms for twin/treble share, but at higher altitudes, you might find dormitories instead. Think of them as a combination of a guest house, a restaurant, and a hangout spot.
These places are very basic. You’ll usually get a simple room with two beds and not much else. They’ll give you blankets, and you’ll likely share a bathroom, which might have either squat or regular toilets. Most tea houses have running water, but hot showers are rare and might cost extra.
Inside, there’s a large gathering area where everyone eats and hangs out. This area is kept warm by a stove. Sometimes, there won’t be electric lights in the rooms unless the village has its own power source. But you’ll usually find solar lighting in the dining area. Some tea houses will provide electricity for charging your phone or camera, usually for a small fee.

Booking Remarks
In the Himalayas weather can disrupt the best laid plans. It is important to note that delays can be caused by low cloud cover and weather days should be expected, hopefully this will not be the case. However, you should hold an emergency fund in reserve to ensure you make your trek, or return from it, it may be necessary to make a flight by chartered helicopter. Helicopters may operate in some weather that aircraft cannot. Should a helicopter be needed, it will be at the expense of the travellers, and not something covered by Travel Escapes. Please keep approximately €500 (one way) accessible in case this situation presents itself. This suggested amount is in addition to any other emergency fund. Should the delays stretch into days and neither helicopter nor flight are a viable option, a collective decision will be made by the group on how to proceed. This is especially true if the delays are prior to the trek, as the original trek may no longer be feasible. Our experienced local guide will be there to help with this process.Deposit of €500pp required at time of booking. Full payment due 16 weeks before departure.
It is a condition of booking that you have adequate travel insurance - Your policy number and insurance company will be required.
