Itinerary
Barcelona, Spain
On arrival in Barcelona, you will be transferred to the port to board your cruise ship, the 5* Sun Princess.
Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Palma is a stunner. Rising in honey-coloured stone from the broad waters of the Badia de Palma, this enduring city dates back to the 13th-century Christian reconquest of the island, and to the Moors, Romans and Talayotic people before that. A richly studded diadem of historical sites, Palma also shelters a seemingly endless array of galleries, restaurants, craft studios and bars – it’s without doubt Mallorca’s greatest treasure. Wander in any direction from the awe-inspiring Gothic Catedral at its geographic and historical heart and you’ll find bent medieval streets lined with aristocratic townhouses, looming baroque churches, teeming public squares, vibrant bohemian neighbourhoods and markets overflowing with all the bounty of the island. You could spend weeks in this city alone, and still uncover fresh joys every day.
Marseilles, France
Whether it is basking in the Mediterranean sunshine or being cooled by the famous Mistral wind France’s second largest city and the capital of the Provence- Côte d’Azur region, is always a fascinating place to visit and a wonderful place for a leisurely lunch.
As France’s most important port, Marseille boasts connections with Africa, Italy and Spain. The strong mistral wind blows away all traces of pollution and provides a clarity of air so pure that many famous artists have been attracted to the city: Cézanne; Braque; Derain; Dufy and Marquet.
Ajaccio, Corsica, France
Ajaccio is a relaxed and good-looking place for a visit to Corsica, with an exceptionally mild climate, and a wealth of smart cafés, restaurants and shops. The core of the old town of Ajaccio – a cluster of ancient streets spreading north and south of place Foch, which opens out to the seafront by the port and the marina – holds the most interest. Nearby, to the west, place de Gaulle forms the modern centre and is the source of the main thoroughfare, cours Napoléon, which extends parallel to the sea almost 2 km to the northeast. West of place de Gaulle stretches the modern part of town fronted by the beach, overlooked at its eastern end by the citadelle. Once the site of the town’s medieval gate, place Foch lies at the heart of old Ajaccio.
Santa Margherita, Italy
Located in the middle of the Italian Riviera, Santa Margherita is less than 4 miles from Portofino, and it is just as beautiful. The town of Santa Margherita is large enough to offer something for everyone while still maintaining a small-town feeling. Walk along the palm lined harbor, explore the marina, or unwind at the beach. This picturesque seaside town features cafés, restaurants, gelaterias (you have to try the gelato here), bars, and shops, that line the harbor and face the sea. When you visit Santa Margherita with Celebrity, you’ll have an incredible selection of shore excursions to choose from, including our Three Pearls of the Paradise Coast tour. We’ll transport you to the three most luxurious holiday resorts in three incredible places— Santa Margherita, Portofino, and Rapallo where you’ll soak in the Italian Riviera sun, the lush landscapes, and the breathtaking architecture. Or, join us on a tour to Cinque Terre where seaside cliffs and terraced vineyards are the norm and the cozy villages of Cinque Terre are nestled comfortably among them. Whatever you decide to do with us here, you’re sure to have an in-depth, authentic experience.
Genoa, Italy
During a holiday to Genoa you can explore its old town: a dense and fascinating warren of medieval alleyways home to large palazzi built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by Genoa’s wealthy mercantile families and now transformed into museums and art galleries. You should seek out the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, the Palazzo Ducale, and the Renaissance palaces of Via Garibaldi which contain the cream of Genoa’s art collections, as well as furniture and decor from the grandest days of the city’s past, when its ships sailed to all corners of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Acquario di Genova is the city’s pride and joy, parked like a giant ocean liner on the waterfront, with seventy tanks housing sea creatures from all the world’s major habitats, including the world’s biggest reconstruction of a Caribbean coral reef. It’s a great aquarium by any standards, the second largest in Europe by capacity, and boasts a fashionably ecology-conscious slant and excellent background information in Italian and English.
La Spezia, Italy
The port at the head of the majestic Gulf of La Spezia, an impressively sweeping panorama of islands and rough headlands renamed the Gulf of the Poets, is workaday La Spezia. A major naval and shipbuilding centre, it has a fine art gallery, the Museo Amedeo Lia, probably the finest collection of medieval and Renaissance art you can enjoy on a holiday to Liguria.
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Your cruise comes to an end as you sail into Civitavecchia port. After disembarkation, you will be transferred to the airport in Rome for your flight to Dublin.
