Hotel Cala Bona

  • Close to the beach
  • Great pool scene
  • Sea views

Location

  • In the centre of Cala Bona
  • 60m to the small beach
  • Shops and bars close by

This hotel has an enviable position opposite the harbour, with bars and restaurants – as well as the beach – to hand.

This family-run hotel’s made up of five blocks. It’s got holiday must-haves like a mid-sized pool and a buffet restaurant, and a bar where tribute acts are on hand to entertain you in the evenings.

The hotel sits opposite the harbour so shops, bars and restaurants are all close by – it’s a scenic setting that becomes vibrant at night. And the beach is just a minute’s walk away.

The buffet restaurant comes with allocated seating and a menu that plays to the Irish crowd – think Sunday roasts and Yorkshire puddings. It caters for children and vegetarians, too. Between breakfast and dinner, there are snacks and light bites available at the two bars – one is poolside, the other faces the harbour.

The curvy outdoor pool comes with palm trees dotted around its edge, plus a wraparound sun terrace laced with sunbeds and thatched shades. There’s a separate children’s section too with safety railings.

Entertainment

  • Dancing – Dancing takes place in the bar lounge.
  • Satellite TV – With satellite TV in the lounge bar you’ll be able to keep up with all the live sporting events.
  • Evening entertainment programme – Shows, concerts and themed evenings are hosted in the bar several nights a week.
Marella Voyager

As the newest member of the Marella Cruises family, Marella Voyager’s facilities are going to be fresh out of the wrapper. It’ll set sail in June 2023 with a bar and restaurant offering that counts up to 10, as well as an indoor cinema, a pool deck – complete with a swimming pool and whirlpools – and a big show lounge. There’ll be plenty of places where you can take in the sea views, too, from the crazy golf course at the top of the ship to The Veranda, where cosy Balinese beds point towards the big blue.

Decks: 13 – Cabins: 952 – Restaurants: 16 – Bars: 10 – Pools: 1 – Lifts: 10

DINING OPTIONS
The dining scene will pack in a variety of restaurants, including a self-service buffet that deals in globe-trotting spreads, waiter-service speciality spots and all-day grab ‘n’ go snacks. Marella Voyager will boast some exclusive eateries, too – its Mexican restaurant will be the only one of its kind in the entire fleet. And, when it comes to bars, Marella Voyager’s line-up will tick off everything from the Squid & Anchor – our popular British-style pub – to the stylish Speakeasy Bar, which is brand new for this ship.

ENTERTAINMENT VENUES
Marella Voyager’s Broadway Show Lounge will be big enough to rival the theatres you’d find in London’s West End, and the shows will be best-in-class. There’ll be 11 for you to watch throughout your cruise, with a couple of showings every evening. Alternatively, you’ll be able to head to the Squid & Anchor and get involved with a quiz or a game show. Make your way to the Bar, Club and Casino, meanwhile, and you’ll be able to let loose on the dancefloor or try your luck at the blackjack and roulette tables.

SHIP FACILITIES
There’s something for everyone to enjoy onboard Marella Voyager. Little cruisers will have the game-filled M Club to kick back in, while older kids and teens will be in charge of Hideout – it’ll be loaded with games consoles. Elsewhere, grown-ups will be able to unwind during a pampering session at the spa and beauty salon. The whole family, meanwhile, can make the most of the crazy golf course and pool deck – the latter will boast a big swimming pool and a pair of whirlpool baths.

Electric Rooms Bar/Lounge, Club & Casino
This place is up on Deck 12, and has everything you need to keep the good times going after dark. The drinks menu at the bar has something for everyone, the club boasts an LED dancefloor, and the casino counts blackjack and roulette among its featured games tables.

Abuela’s
This eatery’s open for lunch and dinner, and lines up a menu of classic Mexican options, like tacos and nachos, made with authentic ingredients.

Nonna’s
At Nonna’s, you can tuck in to made-to-order pizza and pasta dishes – plus many more Italian picks – for lunch and dinner.

Kora La
A firm Marella Cruises favourite, this swanky eatery offers up a selection of pan-Asian dishes for you to tuck in to. Just so you’re aware, this is one of the ship’s specialty restaurants, so there’s a charge to dine here – we recommend making a reservation in advance.

Pool
A lot of the action onboard Marella Voyager takes place around the pool. You can enjoy a relaxing soak here, and get involved with the daily entertainment schedule.

Broadway Show Lounge
When it comes to size, our Broadway Show Lounge can go toe-to-toe with a West-End theatre. The shows themselves are well worth a shout out, as well – there are 11 in total, with two performances per night.

Itinerary
Day 1

Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Following your flight, you will be transferred to port to board the Marella Voyager for your Mediterranean cruise.

Day 2

At Sea

Enjoy the facilities onboard during this day at sea cruising to your next destination.

Day 3

Olbia, Sardinia, Italy

The busy port city of Olbia is the gateway to Sardinia. Venture outside the city and you’ll discover a coastline patched together with sandy beaches, virgin coves and towns that alternate between busy urban centres and pretty Medieval masterpieces.
The National Archaeological Museum of Olbia is stocked with artefacts left behind by the Romans and the even older Nuraghic civilisation.
Boat trips from Sardinia take in everything from the French island of Corsica to the peaceful Maddalena archipelago.
Bike rides are reliably scenic in these parts, taking in charm-filled villages and china-white beaches along the way.

Day 4

Naples, Italy

While Milan may be home to all things chic, Florence to all that is worthy in art and Rome to historical grandeur, Naples can outdo them all in one count with its sheer ‘Napoletanità’!

Naples offers a mix of breathtaking beauty and a strong sense of life being lived to its limits.

Squeezed between Vesuvius, Europe’s second-largest active volcano on one side and the sulphurous springs and boiling mud pools of the Flegrean fields on the other, Naples and its famous blue bay is a ‘must-see’ city along your cruise.

Day 5

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

The port of Civitavecchia is one of the largest in Italy. Civitavecchia enjoys a millenary history due to its coves along the coast, which offered a perfect shelter for vessels, making it a natural port long before cruise ships sailed the seas, and in fact the port was known to the Romans as Centumcellae. During your holiday in Civitavecchia you can easily visit its centre on foot. Amongst the most important monuments to visit are the Forte Michelangelo, built by Bramante in the 16th century, the ancient walls of the old port, where there is a fountain in travertine marble by Vanvitelli, and the Rock, an inexpugnable fortress that has been looming over the city and port for over a thousand years.

Day 6

Ajaccio, Corsica, France

Ajaccio is a relaxed and good-looking place for a visit to Corsica, with an exceptionally mild climate, and a wealth of smart cafés, restaurants and shops. The core of the old town of Ajaccio – a cluster of ancient streets spreading north and south of place Foch, which opens out to the seafront by the port and the marina – holds the most interest. Nearby, to the west, place de Gaulle forms the modern centre and is the source of the main thoroughfare, cours Napoléon, which extends parallel to the sea almost 2 km to the northeast. West of place de Gaulle stretches the modern part of town fronted by the beach, overlooked at its eastern end by the citadelle. Once the site of the town’s medieval gate, place Foch lies at the heart of old Ajaccio.

Day 7

Palamos, Spain

Fringed with a ribbon of sun-kissed sands, Palamos started life as a tiny fishing village. The legacy of fishing continues today with the day’s catch sold off to the highest bidder on the quayside every afternoon. Head down to the beach, or leave the town behind for a day of discovery.
Head to Barcelona to stroll down Las Ramblas, admire a few Gaudi gems, or call in at Nou Camp, home of Barcelona FC.
Take a trip to nearby Figueres, home to the bizarre-looking Salvador Dali Museum. On the outside, it’s a vision of red studded walls topped with huge luminous eggs. Inside, you’ll find an amazing collection of Dali’s surrealist paintings and sculptures.

Day 8

Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Following your cruise, you will be transferred to the hotel for your 7 night stay.

Day 8-15

Cala Bona, Majorca, Spain

Set on Majorca’s east coast, Cala Bona’s a relaxed fishing town that comes with plenty of Spain’s rustic charm. Fishermen bring in the day’s catch at the harbour, ready for lunch at the waterfront restaurants, while the original winding streets are ripe for exploring. There’s also a pedestrianised modern centre with shops and bars, and a choice of little sandy beaches.

Enjoy 7 nights in your hotel. At the end of your stay you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Ireland.
